A grass fire broke out in Bauxite, located near Mount Olive and West Sardis Road, that started from a pallet shed.

Today we got a call of grass fire, is what it came out as," said Tracy Shell, assistant police chief at Bauxite. "After we got here, we realized that a pallet shed back here where somebody had stored a bunch of pallets had caught on fire and it was spreading. So we had to get several agencies to come in and assist with this with pump trucks and everything because of the water issue, everything was dry.

According to Bauxite police, they got a call around 11:30 to noon saying that a pallet shed storing a bunch of different pallets initiated the fire.

The fire was spreading fast, causing several different agencies to come out and help assist.

Luckily, there were no reported injuries nor structure damages.

Bauxite police continued to direct traffic from the scene all throughout the day.

"It's been a busy scene because we've had to stop traffic on West Sardis and re-route it around there so it's made it a little busy and somewhat dangerous for the pump trucks, we have lines across the road. Other than that, the public has been cooperating and everything very well, so we are happy to say everything is going really well," said Shell.

The actual cause of the fire is still unknown.
