Taylor Leidy and Olivia Smith, members of the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team, were named to the NCAA Division II Academic All-District team.

Both graduates of Juniata Valley, Leidy and Smith were strong contributors to a team that won a program-record 29 games this past season, won the PSAC East regular-season title with a 21-1 record, and earned the school’s first trip to the NCAA D-II tourney since 1991.

To get named to the team, you must keep your GPA at 3.5 or higher and play in at least 50 percent of your team’s games. Leidy is a Pre-Physicians Assistant major while Smith is a PreK-4 Early Childhood Education major.

Maci Brodzina, a member of the Lock Haven University softball team, recently homered in a 12-2 loss to Kutztown University.

It was the second homer of the season for the Tyrone Area High School graduate.
