A team of Liverpool legends will take on a side made up of Ajax greats at Anfield on Saturday.

The sides will face-off in front of more than 54,000 as they look to raise money for LFC Foundation. The previous seven charity outings have seen the Reds raise an impressive £6.4million for the foundation's work in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

The likes of Fernando Torres and Jerzy Dudek return to Merseyside looking to relive their glory days as part of an 18-man squad. Lifelong Liverpool fan Sven-Goran Eriksson is set to manage the time alongside club legends in Ian Rush, John Aldridge and John Barnes.

In the last legends match, Liverpool overcame Celtic 2-0 thanks to goals from Steven Gerrard and Mark Gonzalez. Former Reds captain Gerrard dispatched a penalty as Sir Kenny Dalglish took charge of the home side in 2023.

Mirror Football details all you need to know ahead of the game this weekend.

When is kick off?

The sold out match is set to kick of at 3pm GMT on Saturday 23 March at Anfield.

Why is Sven Goran Eriksson in charge of the team?

The former England and Man City manager revealed in January that he was suffering from terminal pancreatic cancer, with doctors only able to slow the progression of the disease and manage its symptoms. In an emotional interview Eriksson divulged that he was a Liverpool supporter and it is the one job he wised he had been able to land in his career.

The Swede said: "My father is still a Liverpool supporter and I am a Liverpool supporter too, always have been," he said. So I always wished to be the manager of Liverpool and that will not happen, but I'm still a Liverpool fan."

The Reds have looked to at least fulfil his wish in part as he joins the coaching staff for the game against Ajax. Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the move, but following Eriksson's revelation noted that he would be happy to facilitate some time in the first team hotseat.

Klopp said: "The only thing I can say is absolutely he's very welcome to come here and he can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day if he wants. That's no problem.

"Being on the sideline might be a little bit more difficult. To have him here and show him everything and how this wonderful club developed over the years, I think that's definitely something we will tell him."
