A pedestrian is dead after being struck and killed on Interstate 91 South in Hartford Tuesday evening.
The highway was closed for several hours between exits 33 and 32, and the accident caused major traffic backup.
The crash was reported just after 8:30 p.m. Fire officials said they were called to the scene and found a pedestrian that had been struck on the highway. They were later pronounced dead.
The person's identity is unknown at this time. State police are investigating.
