PISD board meeting

Members of the Paris Independent School District board, school officials, teachers and member of the community attended a special meeting where people discussed their views on a proposed four-day school calendar that the board and other school officials said no decision has been made on the matter yet.

Despite the positive results of four-day-school-week surveys presented to a crowd of over 80 people in the Paris High School cafeteria during a public forum of a special PISD school board meeting Monday night, most of the 20 speakers were in opposition to the district abandoning a five-day school week.

While the surveys of parents, teachers and staffers showed from 65% to 80% approval for the reduced school week schedule, only a few spoke in favor of it.
