MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person was injured and another was charged following a shooting outside of a bar in Downtown Memphis.

Dylan Clark is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and two counts of Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon in connection with the shooting.

According to reports, the incident happened in the area of South Main Street and Gayoso Avenue at around 2 a.m.

Police say that they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower left side of his stomach. He also had an injury to his forehead.

According to a police report, the victim stated that he was inside Blind Bear when he saw a male suspect staring at him. The victim then left the bar to walk his “friend girl” to the car.

That is when the male suspect and three to four other males followed him out of the bar, according to reports.

Police say that the victim called his friend because he thought they were going to “jump him.” When his friend arrived, the victim got into a verbal altercation outside the bar with the suspect.

The suspect was reportedly in a defensive stance as if he wanted to fight, but the victim said he was a professional fighter and did not want to fight. A fight still broke out.

During the fight, the victim stated that he was hit in the head with a chair by an unknown person. He and his friend then walked off, but the suspect followed them.

When the victim and his friend made it to the front of 119 South Main Street, the suspect, identified as Clark, reportedly pulled out a black handgun. He fired one shot, striking the victim in the stomach.

An affidavit tells a different story on how the situation unfolded.

It was reported that Clark left Blind Bear, but returned after receiving a phone call from a friend stating that he had been “jumped.”

He claims that upon arrival, he noticed two of his friends bleeding from their faces and arguing with a group of men. They claimed the men were responsible for their injuries.

According to the affidavit, Clark went inside Blind Bear to retrieve a friend’s bag and was “sucker punched” in the face by the victim. Clark then pulled out his gun and pointed it at the victim.

Reports say the victim lunged at Clark, so Clark fired a shot, hitting him. There were multiple people nearby when the shot was fired.

Witnesses told police that they saw the whole thing unfold outside the restaurant. They also say Clark took off running after the shooting and jumped in an all-white older model pickup truck before driving westbound on Gayoso Avenue.

Officers working a detail at the Hyatt Centric Hotel say they saw the white pickup truck speeding westbound on Beale Street.

Moments later, Clark approached officers at Hyatt informing them that he was just involved in an altercation on Main Street.

He was then detained on the scene. Police say they also saw a black handgun lying on the driver seat of the white Nissan.

The gunshot victim was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. The other victim was treated for his injuries on the scene.

MPD says they located one spent 9mm shell casing in front of 119 South Main Street in an outdoor seating area.

Officers located surveillance cameras in the front entrance of Blindbar, The Peanut Shoppe, and Dollar General. They were then able to watch video footage of the incident, showing Clark firing a shot at the victim.

Clark’s vehicle was released to his mom and he was then arrested.

MPD says this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.
