Nicole Kidman Just Debuted a Dramatic Hair Change With a New Cut and Color

Anyone looking for a major dose of haircut inspiration can stop the search: Nicole Kidman's new shoulder-skimming tousled bob is the only photo you need to bring to the stylist's chair. In a new Instagram post shared today, the Oscar-winning actress debuted a new cut and color, swapping her trademark long, strawberry-blonde hair for an icy blonde shade and shorter hairstyle. Naturally, it takes a village — and Kidman was kind enough to tag her team, including celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel.

Makeup artist Gucci Westman shared a behind-the-scenes look at the new style on her Stories and Nicole also tagged fashion brand Balenciaga. The actress and mother was named one of the brand's global ambassadors, along with fellow Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, last December.

"Balenciaga has been with me through some of the most memorable events in my life, from my wedding to the Oscars red carpet," Kidman said at the time.

Kidman's hair transformation comes after an even shorter look for Prime Video's Expats, which had her wearing a similar bob, though that one didn't even touch her collarbones. More recently, Kidman had been wearing her hair long and sometimes with a curly fringe, which was her preferred style for the show's premiere last December. 

In a 2020 interview with The Sunday Morning Herald, Kidman opened up about her hair and how she regrets damaging her natural texture, which is curly, with repeated heat styling.

"Do I wish that I hadn't screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure," Kidman said.
