The 2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia: Everything You Need to Know

Alfa’s next sports sedan should be going electric … but maybe not all-electric.

Stellantis — the company that’s an amalgam of France’s PSA and Italian-American FCA — decided against consolidating its many distinctive automotive brands post-merger. Instead, the conglomerate is giving each of its brands Vauxhall — a chance to state its case for the future.

For Alfa Romeo, that will mean new EVs and a long-awaited overhaul of its product lineup. One of the most exciting prospects is an all-new Giulia Quadrifoglio. And one appears to be in the works.

Here’s what we know about the 2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Will the new Alfa Romeo sedan still be called the Giulia?

Alfa Romeo has not confirmed officially that the new sedan will carry the Giulia nameplate. But we expect Alfa to lean heavily on its heritage to ease the transition for current buyers, and we’d be surprised if the Giulia nameplate did not carry over.

When will the new Giulia arrive?

Per Autocar, the new Giulia will arrive by 2026. Motor 1 reports that the Giulia will follow a new Stelvio SUV coming in 2025. Autocar also has a larger Porsche Cayenne-rivaling SUV arriving in 2027. All three models are expected to have an EV version by 2027.

Will the new Giulia be an electric car?

The Giulia will have an electric version, but it’s unclear whether the EV will be the only powertrain available. Alfa Romeo had reportedly been targeting going EV-only by 2027. However, the STLA Large platform the new Giulia should be based on can accommodate both combustion and electric powertrains. And Motor 1 reports that the new Giulia will get combustion, hybrid and all-electric versions.

Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato emphasized the importance of the sedan market and the next-gen Giulia staying in that segment to Autocar.“I strongly believe that when you speak about electrification, you speak about aero, and when you speak about aero, you speak about ‘Berlina’, or sedan,” Imparato said.

But it’s possible that, like many sedans, the Giulia may get more of a hatchback-like opening in the rear. Imparato previously told Autocar that the new Giulia may fall somewhere between a sedan and a wagon. “Maybe there’s a tipping point between the sedan and the station wagon. With a new Giulia, maybe we can have the best of both worlds,” Imparato said.

Whatever the body style, Imparato is excited about it. He told Motor 1 Italy that “what we designed is a bomb, we couldn’t finalize the style of this car without being absolutely in love with it. And now we are!”

The new Giulia could have some relationship with the new Dodge Charger, which will also use the STLA Large platform.

Dodge just unveiled its new Charger Daytona EV and six-cylinder Charger built on the STLA Large platform. It would make sense if, like the Tonale crossover, the Giulia shared substantial componentry with the Charger with separate styling. But Alfa Romeo has not confirmed that to be the case.

A bonkers Quadrifoglio version could pack almost 1,000 horsepower

Autocar reports that the new Giulia will have a 345 horsepower base model. A Veloce version will bump that up to 790 hp. The top-of-the-line Quadrifoglio version will bring about 986 hp to the party, nearly twice the output of the current combustion Giulia Quadrifoglio. The latter model could be a tri-motor system with AWD.

For what it’s worth, the Charger Daytona is launching with 670 hp and 496 hp EV versions. And combustion Chargers using the new Hurricane inline-six offer 420 hp and 550 hp.

The new Giulia EV should charge very quickly

The new Giulia will use Stellantis’s new STLA EV platform and be fitted with 800-volt architecture. Alfa Romeo told Autocar it should deliver a “substantial charge” — probably 10-80% — in less than 18 minutes on a fast charger. If Alfa Romeo follows the Charger’s lead, cheaper versions could offer 400-volt architecture.

The maximum range for the Giulia EV is expected to be around 435 miles by the WLTP standard, equating to around 387 miles in EPA testing.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is Alfa Romeo’s already legendary BMW M3 rival packing a Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter V6 engine with more than 500 horsepower.
