Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is weighing in after two separate cases where illegal immigrants were arrested in our area for sex crimes.

Miyares cast the blame on President Biden's catch-and-release policy that allows immigrants caught at the border to be let go.

The Attorney General said 83% are given a notice to appear in court years down the road, but they don't show up. This was the case with the illegal immigrant arrested recently in Campbell County, accused of sex crimes involving a young teen.

The suspect was caught by ICE but released.

"It is probably the most broken immigration system we have seen. There are simple steps the Biden Administration could do to help fix it. They are refusing to fix it and I think they're leading to untold stories of human misery and tragedy," Miyares said.

Miyares also said the open border is leading to a dangerous amount of fentanyl and human trafficking coming into America, putting the country more at risk.
