ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man is behind bars after he tried to avoid a traffic stop and was found with meth, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

ECSO deputies reportedly attempted a traffic stop on March 15 at Pinestead Road and Pensacola Boulevard.

According to an ECSO Facebook post, the driver pulled into a church parking lot but attempted to drive off before deputies made contact.

After deputies blocked the suspect’s car in the lot, he allegedly tried to run away.

Deputies say they arrested the driver, identified as 34-year-old Larry Diamond Earl Ashley of Pensacola.

Officials said they found a bag of methamphetamine during the arrest. K9 Hura then searched Ashley’s vehicle and Hura allegedly found another bag of methamphetamine (totaling over 20 grams).

Ashley was arrested and taken to the Escambia County Jail.

He is being held on charges of resisting an officer, methamphetamine trafficking, marijuana possession, evidence destroying, and delivering/distributing drugs, according to the jail log.
