Elvis Presley's Cadillac, the Batmobile and the most expensive car sold at 2024 Mecum auction

A 1969 Cadillac Eldorado owned by Elvis Presley has sold for over $250,000 at the 2024 Mecum car auction at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The Mecum Auctions ran March 5-9 and Presley’s car sold on Friday.

Presley bought the Eldorado new on May 21, 1969, from the Hillcrest Motor Company in Beverly Hills, California.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley used the car at their Beverly Hills home from 1969 to 1973. The Cadillac has 46,116 miles on it, according to Mecum Auctions.

Included in the sale was a copy of the original purchase contract and car record in Elvis’ name.

A 1969 Cadillac Eldorado (Lot F182) that was purchased new by Elvis Presley and sold for $253,000 on Friday, March 8, at the Mecum Auction 2024 in Glendale, Arizona.

The second owner of the vehicle was Max Service, Elvis’ mechanic. There’s also a copy of his California ownership certificate and matching blue license plates included.

The car created a bidding frenzy at State Farm Stadium on Friday, with the winning bid at $230,000. Including the buyer’s premium (a fee paid to the auction company), the total price came to $253,000.

The 2024 Glendale Mecum auction featured 2,000 classic and collector vehicles, including the last of the vehicles custom car builder Gordon “Red” Harden owned. Harden worked on some of the most popular custom cars from 20th-century pop culture including the Batmobile, KITT from “Knight Rider” and Dragula and Munster Koach from “The Munsters.”

Elvis Presley's Cadillac Eldorado was not the most expensive car sold at the Mecum Auction 2024 in Glendale. The most expensive car sold this year was a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe that went for $1,815,000 on Saturday, March 9.
