SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Thursday, Missouri State Athletics Director Kyle Moats will be entering his 11th day in the search for a new basketball coach.

No official updates have been released–just as Moats promised when starting the quest.

But two things are certain.

First, the new coach will have a major rebuilding project–seven Bears are now in the transfer portal.

And second it seems that coach will not be former Bear and current Kansas State assistant coach Rodney Perry.

Sources have told KOLR 10 sports, that Missouri State has not reached out to Perry.

Perry seemed to be a logical candidate.

He played basketball at Missouri State for both Charlie Spoonhour and Mark Bernsen in the early 90’s.

Perry has 29 years of coaching experience, 16 at the college level.

Perry coached at every level from NAIA to AAU to Link Academy in Branson.

He’s been an assistant at K-State for the last two seasons.

One of the players he coached at Link is Damien Mayo junior and he entered the transfer portal Wednesday.
