Hampton Roads is buzzing about mochi doughnuts.

Now there’s a new place to get them: Mochi Donut & Tea in Virginia Beach.

Mochi doughnuts, which originated in Japan, come in a variety of icing flavors and toppings such as cinnamon and sugar, green tea and strawberry. These pastries look like teething rings and do have a slight chew. They are made with rice flour, then fried.

The shop’s teas are also popular. They range from brown sugar milk to coconut lemon to mango pomelo fruit. Other menu items include cream puffs, Korean corn dogs and slushies.

The mochi doughnuts are priced similar to regular doughnuts: $2.75 (individual), $14 pack of six) and $26 (dozen). Teas are $5.25 to $6.95.
