When Hope the pitbull was found in early Novemeber she weighed 24lbs and had a body temperature of 92 degrees.Claremont malnourished dogShe could not walk or drink water on her own and Anne Swan, director of the Springfield Humane Society, said, "I've done this 18 years, and that's the worst I've seen that was still alive,"Now the owner of Lost My Way Animal Shelter, Cathy Sullivan, said Hopes condition has improved greatly. Sullivan said Hope has been going on walks to build up muscle, jumping up to greet new people (a habit Sullivan says they are trying to curb), and is looking more like a regular dog everyday.It will still be a while before Hope will be available for adoption. The shelter does not put animals up for adoption until they are up-to-date on their shots and have been spayed or neutered. Hope will likely not be spayed until 2016.Police are still investigating to determine Hope's original owner.
