EW's editorial guidelines Updated on March 28, 2024 05:38PM EDT The search for the next Bond, James Bond, is underway, and one occasionally ambivalent former 007, Pierce Brosnan, has thrown his support behind a former costar in Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The Kraven the Hunter actor's name is among many criminally handsome thesps allegedly being considered for the role, occupied for the last two decades by Daniel Craig. "I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so," Brosnan recently told The Ray D'Arcy Show of Tayor-Johnson, who starred alongside him in the 2008 film The Greatest. "So, yes, I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow." Brosnan, however, has changed his tune on the matter a few times. After declaring that he didn't care who inherits the 007 mantle as recently as 2022, Brosnan endorsed Oscar-winning Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy just a few weeks ago. "Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty's Secret Service," Brosnan told the BBC. Murphy and Taylor-Johnson have joined the likes of Happy Valley star James Norton, Snowfall's Damson Idris, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, Richard Madden, as well as perennial favorite Idris Elba as actors rumored to take their martini shaken, not stirred. It's anyone's guess who will win out in the casting, but Pierce Brosnan will either not care or be totally on board with it. Want more movie news?
