SAN DIEGO — Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. along with his wife and actress Cheryl Hines spent an evening on the San Diego harbor with supporters on Thursday evening, the Kennedy campaign confirmed to CBS 8.

Kennedy and the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star left from the San Diego harbor and sailed to Coronado and near Downtown San Diego, hosted by local boat charter Aolani Catamaran.

The Independent candidate for President of the United States was joined by nearly 50 supporters, family and friends of the 2024 campaign during the catamaran sailing.

The Kennedy campaign told CBS 8 that they hosted two March Madness sweepstakes winners, auction winners and ticket purchasers for the sailing.

“Three brothers flew all the way from Puerto Rico for this event, as their mother who passed away had always wanted to meet Mr. Kennedy,” the Kennedy campaign told CBS 8.

Thursday's visit marks at least the second visit from Kennedy to San Diego County in less than a year. In May 2023, Kennedy made a Memorial Day campaign stop at Humphrey’s on the Bay on Shelter Island.

During his speech, Kennedy touched on everything from the COVID lockdown, to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, to his concerns that America's middle class is in danger of collapse.

He also called for the return of the 'peace dividend, stressing the need to focus on the country's middle class, which he said is drowning in debt.

"We need to buttress the middle class and stop sending money abroad for wars," he told CBS 8.

He also criticized the current administration for "spending money that we don't have."

"We're like an alcoholic who is behind on his mortgage and has taken the milk money to buy rounds for everybody, strangers at the bar," he added. "We don't have the money."

In March, Kennedy picked Nicole Shanahan to be his running mate and Independent candidate for Vice President. Shanahan is a California lawyer and philanthropist who's never held elected office.
