A Moulton woman faces multiple charges after police say she used fake IDs to take money from local banks.

Escalara, 43, was charged with theft of property, false identity to obstruct justice, possession of a forged instrument in the 3rd degree, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, and three counts of possession of a forged instrument in the 2nd degree.

Bond was set at $35,000.

On April 5, the Moulton Police Department said it received a call from a local banking institution advising that a woman was attempting to make a fraudulent withdrawal. Police arrived and confronted a female suspect, who identified herself with a California driver's license.

However, police said they found three other driver's licenses with the suspect's picture and different names on them, along with other identification that did not belong to or match with the suspect.

Police said the banking institution also provided a bank slip the suspect had filled out and signed one of the fictitious names. They also said the bank told them the suspect had already fraudulently withdrawn several thousand dollars from them on March 4.

While officers spoke with the suspect, police said she gave a false name and date of birth, attempting to prevent officers from discovering her true identity. She was taken to the Lawrence County Jail, where with help from the FBI North Alabama Violent Crimes Task Force she was identified as Jennifer Escalera.
