CLAY COUNTY, Miss. - Multiple places of worship in Clay County have had their air conditioning units stolen. The Sheriff's Department is investigating the thefts.
Chandler Grove Missionary Baptist reported its AC unit stolen on March 16th. Shady Grove Abbot Missionary Baptist reported it stolen on March 26.Â
Calvin Chandler is the pastor at Chandler Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He said, "It really bothers me to know that we live in this kind of world now where people don't hold anything sacred," Chandler said. "We have people around us that not only will steal from our own but will steal from God like that. But we're praying for them."
The Clay County Sheriff's Department needs people to call in any suspicious activity in their community and churches to help catch the people responsible for these crimes.
