Second innings in fintech?
Ex-Shark Ashneer Grover Set To Take On Medical Loan Apps With ZeroPe

Former shark at Shark Tank India and co-founder of fintech giant BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, is vying for his second innings in the domain with ZeroPe. The app recently listed on Google Playstore is developed by Grover’s startup, Third Unicorn, which earlier launched CrickPe in 2023. ZeroPe is an instant medical loan app catering to health emergencies. Delhi’s Mukut Finvest is the financing partner of the ZeroPe app. Applying for medical loans is fairly breezy as explained on fintech's website. After downloading the app, the user needs to furnish KYC details and check for available partner hospitals on the app. The next step is to apply for the required loan amount and select a repayment plan. The app disburses loans up to Rs 5 lakh. The site mentions that loans can be foreclosed too. ZeroPe’s portal lists Ashneer Grover and Aseem Ghavri as its founders. The medical loan app is a cluttered market, with some of the major players also providing emergency medical loans in addition to instant personal loans.

Ashneer Grover and spouse Madhuri Jain Grover’s unceremonious exit from BharatPe in 2022 was followed by the fintech’s Rs 88 crore lawsuit in the Delhi High Court. After a tumultuous 2022, the Grovers founded Third Unicorn last year and launched fantasy gaming app CrickPe without ads featuring Ashneer himself. Meanwhile, the GOI introduced a uniform 28% tax over the existing taxation, prompting founders like Grover slamming the new regulations. Grover rallied for founders to enter into the murky waters of politics “to be represented.” While people speculated his third inning would be entering politics, the Dogalapan author is reluctant so far, even as 2024 general elections have been announced. For now, Grover is set for more business.
