MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Collinsville man has been arrested, accused of impersonating a US Marshal.

Early the morning of April 10, Martinsville Police officers received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 700 block of Corn Tassel Trail. A resident had approached the man in the vehicle; that man was wearing body armor and other items similar to those worn by law enforcement, according to police.

Police say the driver of the car identified himself to the resident as a US Marshal, saying he was conducting surveillance in the area. The driver left the scene before police arrived.

The driver was identified as Dominique Cornelius Grant, 36 of Collinsville. Grant was arrested by Martinsville Police for Impersonation of a Law Enforcement Officer, 2nd or subsequent offense. He is being held in the Martinsville City Jail without bond.

A similar case against him in Henry County, in 2007, was dismissed.

Anything with information on this incident is asked to contact Captain Ben Peters at the Martinsville Police Department at 276-403-5318.
