Touch 'em all: Homers highlight Wednesday's MetroWest Fantastic Five high school athletes

Wednesday was a good day to touch 'em all. Whether they launched a big fly or came back around on an inside the park homer, Wednesday's MetroWest and Milford area Fantastic Five high school athletes homered.

They also played big parts in season-opening wins and set school records.

Without further ado, Wednesday's MetroWest and Milford area Fantastic Five:

KATIE ANDERSON, Medway softball

She sped around the bases for two inside the park home runs and drove in four runs, as the Mustangs took down Dover-Sherborn 15-3. Anderson belted three hits, as did Olivia Klaus (triple, four RBIs) and Priya Bedard for Medway (2-1, 2-1 Tri-Valley League).

BRENDAN IP, Wayland boys tennis

He captured a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles to help the defending Division 3 state champions win their opener 3-2 over Weston.

KENNY KALVINEK & SAM STRINGER, Blackstone Valley Tech boys track & field

They each set a school record Wednesday, as the Beavers took out Worcester Tech 104-34. Kalvinek tossed the shot put 50 feet, 7 inches, while stringer sprinted to victory in the 100-meter dash in 10.8 seconds.

LUKE MIELE, Wellesley baseball

Newton North couldn't keep him in the park. The Roger Williams commit crushed three home runs for a whopping seven RBIs in a 13-3 Raiders win. Lincoln Loftus threw five innings and allowed just one hit and no runs for Wellesley (2-1, 2-1 Bay State Conference."

BRIAN OLSON, Dover-Sherborn baseball

He smashed three home runs, as the Raiders took out Medway 13-2. Olson drove in eight runs for the Raiders (3-0).

AVA VANBUSKIRK, Marlborough girls track & field

She captured three event victories for the Panthers, who fell 104-39 against Nashoba. VanBuskirk finished first in the 400-meter run (60.2 seconds), 200 (27.3) and triple jump (33 feet, 11 inches). Marlborough junior Adelaide Johnson finished first in the discus and second in the javelin, while Risha Khanderia took first in the 800.

Baseball

WESTBOROUGH 4, Wachusett 3: Joe Marino knocked in the game-tying RBI with two outs in the seventh inning. On the same play, and error brought Brendan Martel around to score from first, which delivered the Rangers a walkoff victory over Wachusett. Westborough (3-0, 1-0 Mid-Wach A) scored all four runs in the seventh inning.

NASHOBA 16, Hudson 3: Anthony Moura went 2-for-2 and stole a base with a run scored for the Hawks (2-1, 0-1 Mid-Wach C).

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 14, Worcester Tech 3: Corey Magill drove in five runs and tripled among his three hits for the Beavers (2-0, 1-0 Colonial). He also pitched and was part of a 15-strikeout day over six innings with Dylan Brady and Luke Charon. BVT's Alex Vosburgh doubled twice and tripled with two RBIs, and Jacksen Manosh crushed a two-run double.

AMSA 16, Assabet 0: Trevor Petty scored three runs and threw four no-hit innings for the Eagles (2-1, 1-0 Colonial). Michael Domino went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a run, while Liam Thornley and Joseph Veracka each scored three runs.

BAY PATH 22, Keefe Tech 1: Joey Secatore singled for the Broncos (0-2).

NIPMUC 14, Blackstone-Millville 5: Anthony Ruggiero was 3-for-3 with two triples, a homer and three RBIs, Cody Jameson singled twice, and Grady O'Neil, Dylan Muccini and Noah Parrotta all drove in two runs for the Warriors (3-0, 2-0 Dual Valley).

HOPEDALE 11, Sutton 0: Nathan Montville went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Noah Smith was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run for the Blue Raiders (3-0, 1-0 Dual Valley). Hopedale's Mike Rutkowski added a triple and three runs.

BOSTON LATIN 6, Lincoln-Sudbury 3: Cooper Tarantino homered on a 2-for-3 day, scoring tow runs with an RBI. Lincoln-Sudbury's Mason Tarantino was 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI.

HOLLISTON 9, Medfield 3: Jayden Hayes had his first career hit, then his second and third for the Panthers. He doubled and added an RBI. Holliston's Brogan Roche drove in three runs with two hits, while Sam Schoenberg (two stolen bases) and Arav Prajapati each had a hit and two RBIs. Teddy Peters earned the win for Holliston with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

BELLINGHAM 10, Millis 2: Ryan Nolan contributed two hits and two RBIs for the Blackhawks. Bellingham's Sean Brown struck out four in four innings on the mount, stole three bases and scored two runs. Joe Corsi touched home three times and added an RBI for Bellingham (2-2).

Softball

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 24, Boston Latin 0: Ashleigh Lent and Kelsey Blanchette each drove in five runs for the Warriors in a 24-0 win against Boston Latin. Lent launched a three run homer on her 3-for-4 day for L-S (3-0, 1-0 Dual County). She also scored three runs. Blanchette had a double and a triple among her three hits while scoring three runs. L-S' Lia Mazzocchi struck out nine and allowed just two hits in five innings in the circle. She also was 4-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate. Sophia Jorjorian (3-for-4) and Sarah Danielson (2-for-2, triple) each had two RBIs and scored two runs.

BEVERLY 8, Wayland 4: Kelsey Kaufman doubled and added three RBIs to go with strong plays at first base for the Warriors (1-1).

HUDSON 13, Tyngsborough 9: Lauren O'Malley homered among her two hits for the Hawks (2-0) with trwo RBIs, Alyssa Davis (double) and Sam Collette collected three hits each, while Liv Connolly (two RBIs), Colbie Lacina (double, RBI) and Sydney Roush added two hits each. Hudson's Audrey Lenox drove in three runs and doubled.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 16, Worcester Tech 12: Lynsey Kay homered twice and singled twice, while Julia Trujillo hit a homer and a single for the Beavers (1-0, 1-0 Colonial). BVT's Elleigh Macneil collected a single and triple.

Boys lacrosse

MEDWAY 17, Norton 5: Justin Pillard put away four goals and distributed two assists for the Mustangs (3-1, 3-1 TVL). Medway's Gavin Shippos, Matt Plante and Colin Towle each collected a hat trick.

AMSA 8, Blackstone Valley Tech 5: Luc Masse put away a hat trick and an assist, as the Eagles (4-0, 1-0 Colonial) ended the Beavers' shutout streak and handed them their first loss. AMSA's Tavin Hirsh notched two goals and two assists, and Hayden Kearney gathered two goals and one assist.

FRANKLIN 5, Sharon 3: Matt Corvi saved 16 shots to help the Panthers (4-0) in a tight affair. Franklin's Dylan McElvoy scored twice.

Girls lacrosse

SOUTH SHORE 8, Tri-County 5: Gabby Dergham distributed three assists and scored two goals for the Cougars (1-3, 1-1 Mayflower). Tri-County's Addison Trella scored twice and added an assist and three takeaways.

Boys volleyball

KEEFE TECH 3, Main South 0: C.J. Sok put up nine kills, even digs and two aces in a 25-11, 25-15, 25-20 victory for the Broncos (5-1). Keefe Tech's Mateus Silva contributed eight kills.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 3, Greater New Bedford 1: Kieran Fagan put down 15 kills for the Warriors. Timmy Kearney distributed 42 assists in a 27-25, 25-19, 14-25, 25-17 victory for L-S (3-1). Sebastiano D'Ambrosio (10 kills) and Ryan Heberlig (seven kills) fired two aces each.

Boys tennis

WESTBOROUGH 5, Marlborough 0: Four out of the five rangers slots didn't lose a game. Kaden Chen (No. 1 singles) beat Maurya Virmani, Srinjoy Ghosh (No. 2 singles) prevailed over Manraaj Singh, Michael Ku and Eehab Khan (No. 1 doubles) bested Simon Valentino and Keshav Kumar and Sean Levesque and Sumanth Sura won against Ethan Kwan and Alex REsendes all 6-0, 6-0. Westborough (3-0, 3-0 Mid-Wach A) No. 3 singles layer Jorge Garcia-Gonzalez triumphed 6-3, 6-0 against Sumair Singh of Marlborough (0-1, 0-1).

Girls tennis

WHITINSVILLE-CHRISTIAN 3, AMSA 2: Eagles no. 3 singles player Sameera Patnala defeated Avery Derten 6-0, 6-1. Ava Daly and Stela Damaoulakis picked up the other SMA (1-3) point with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Mia Besong and Julia Gibbons at No. 2 doubles.

SHEPHERD HILL 3, Marlborough 2: Freshman Emmaline Bowles picked up a point for the Panthers at No. 3 singles to win for the second time in two varsity matches for Marlborough (0-2). She beat Sinead Ennis 7-5, 6-1. Panthers No. 2 singles player Juliana Aristizabal-Grisales also won 6-0, 6-1 over Victoria Strzemecka.

ALGONQUIN 4, Wachusett 1: Siyona Bhagwar gutted out a 7-5, 6-4 win over Xin Zheng at No. 2 doubles for Algonquin (3-1, 1-1 Mid-Wach A). The Titans No. 1 doubles pair of Claire Wallace and Becca White kept ahead of Saide Cevik and Ekaavil Daga 6-4, 6-4. Algonquin No. 3 singles player Siya Arde won 6-1, 6-2 against Gabby deLeon, and No. 2 singles team Sophie Kopstein and Riya Mahanta took out Lauren Minnich and Chau Quach 6-1, 6-3.

WESTBOROUGH 3, Bromfield 1: Gina Hajiseyedjavady made short work of Bromfield's Abigal Amres 8-1 at No. 2 singles, while Sahasra Kommineni outlasted Luis Tatarev 8-5 at No. 3. The Westborough (2-0, 2-0 Mid-Wach A) No. 1 doubles team of Elena Chen and Diya Bhattacharia beat Cassie Fisher and Khivi Nanra 8-2. The No. 2 doubles match was suspended 6-6 due to rain and won't be completed.

Boys track & field

NASHOBA 114, Marlborough 28: Maycon Riveiro do Santos cleared 36-11 to win the triple jump, while Andrew Naim was first in the two-mile (10:53) for the Panthers (0-1).

Girls track & field

ALGONQUIN 88, Westborough 57: Kate DiTullio (javelin, triple jump), Ariana Gentile (100, long jump) and Audrey (200, 400) won two events each for the Titans.
