Bristol man arrested after high-speed chase, charged with DUI and other offenses

BRISTOL — A man was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after leading police on a high-speed pursuit through several New Hampshire towns last night.

The Bristol Police Department reported that the chase began after they received a motor vehicle complaint from State Police about a vehicle driving erratically on 3A south from Bridgewater.

The caller described the vehicle as weaving all over the road and braking randomly.

Officer Kelley of the Bristol Police Department clocked the suspect’s vehicle traveling at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone on Lake Street and observed it having lane control issues.

Kelley attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified as Michael Marks, briefly pulled into the BHOP parking lot before fleeing.

The pursuit continued through Summer Street into New Hampton and eventually into Meredith.

Marks stopped at the intersection of Route 104 and 25 but did not exit the vehicle, instead turning back onto Route 104 and heading onto Interstate 93 South.

Troopers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, and the vehicle came to a stop at the exit 22 on-ramp in Sanbornton.

Marks was taken into custody without incident.

Marks faces charges including Operating under the influence (elude) Felony B, Yellow line Violation, and Disobeying an Officer Misdemeanor A.

Notably, Marks was arrested the previous night by State Police for Operating under the influence.

After being bailed out, he was placed into protective custody and transported to jail.
