Meet the Sioux City Journal's Small School All-Area girls' basketball team for the 2023-24 season. The team is led by Co-Players of the Year Maya Dolliver and Avery Wegner of Pender.
Dolliver and Wegner led the Pendragons to their second straight Nebraska state championships after being moved down from Class C-2 to Class D-1 for the most recent campaign.
The Pender tandem is joined on the first team by Central Lyon senior star Desta Hoogendoorn, Remsen St. Mary's senior Whitney Jensen, Westwood senior Addy Johnson and Sioux Central senior Bradi Krager.
First team
Maya Dolliver, Pender, junior
Stats: 13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.8 spg, 50% FG, 33% 3PT, 78% FT, scored over 1,000 career points
Honors: Lincoln Journal Star Class D-1 all-state first-team (captain), Class D-1 all-state tournament team, all-East Husker Conference first-team

Honors: Lincoln Journal Star Class D-1 all-state second-team, Class D-1 all-state tournament team, all-East Husker Conference first-team
Highlights: The Briar Cliff commit led the two-time state champs in rebounds per game and blocks per game, second on team in scoring average
Desta Hoogendoorn, Central Lyon, senior
Stats: 17.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2 apg, 2 spg, 1.9 bpg, 55.2% FG, scored over 1,200 points for her career with nearly 700 career rebounds
Honors: IPSWA Class 2A all-state first-team, IGCA Class 2A all-state first-team, all-Northwest District, all-Siouxland Conference first-team (unanimous)
Highlights: The Dordt University recruit led the Siouxland Conference in points and rebounds per game for the state qualifying Lions.

Whitney Jensen, Remsen St. Mary's, senior
Stats: 11.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.9 apg, 4 spg, 1.9 bpg, 52.7% FG, 72.1% FT, scored over 1,200 career points and is school's all-time scoring leader
Honors: IPSWA Class 1A all-state first-team, IGCA Class 1A all-state second-team, all-Northwest District, all-War Eagle Conference first-team
Highlights: The Des Moines Area Community College commit had the fourth-highest assist average in the War Eagle Conference for the repeat state-qualifying Hawks, the second-most steals and third-most blocks per game in conference and was second on the team in scoring.
Addy Johnson, Westwood, senior
Stats: 15.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.4 spg, 1.5 bpg, 53.9% FG, 42.5% 3PT, 82.1% FT, scored over 1,000 career points despite a full season with a knee injury
Honors: IPSWA Class 2A all-state second-team, IGCA Class 2A all-state second-team, all-Northwest District, all-Western Valley Conference first-team (unanimous)
Highlights: The Wayne State University recruit had the fifth-highest scoring average in the Western Valley Conference for the state semifinalist Rebels, third-most rebounds and blocks per game in conference and third-highest field goal percentage in the WVC.

Bradi Krager, Sioux Central, senior
Stats: 17.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.5 apg, 3.4 spg, 1.6 bpg, 47.3% FG, 42.8% 3PT, 81.7% FT, surpassed 1,200 career points
Honors: IPSWA Class 2A all-state first-team, IGCA Class 2A all-state first-team, all-Northwest District, all-Twin Lakes Conference first-team
Highlights:Â Guided the Rebels to their first ever state tournament berth. Led the TLC in scoring average and second-most blocks per game in conference, 3-point makes per game (3), highest 3-point percentage and highest free throw percentage.

Stats: 20.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.4 apg, 3.3 spg, 54% FG, 30.8% 3PT, 67.8% FT
Honors: IGCA Class 2A all-state third-team, all-Northwest District, all-Western Valley first-team (unanimous)
Highlights: Led the Western Valley Conference in scoring average, second-most steals per game, second-highest field goal percentage and third-highest assist average.

Honors: IGCA Class 1A all-state second-team, all-Northwest District, all-War Eagle Conference first-team
Highlights: Led the state semifinalist Hawks in scoring, averaged the fifth-most assists per game in the WEC, with the conference's best free throw percentage (min. 24 attempts).
