One local representative of the Federalist Society regularly opines about the complicated issues of a modern society as a Times’ columnist. Usually, a broad brush is employed so black and white solutions, or ancient religious/political/economic theories seem reasonable. A recent real-estate allegory attempting to absolve the Trump Corp. from a long history of mega millions malfeasance exemplifies how simple-minded analysis confuses.
Flabbergasted by obvious corruption infiltrating all areas of society? Confused by gun manufactures’ total irresponsibility? Offended by anonymous forces usurping control of your body? Disturbed by the defunding and devaluation of a bulwark of the US society, public education? Understand ultraconservative lobbyists like the Federalist Society are driving these perplexing actions by courts and local government. Legitimized by an unbalanced Supreme Court, unimaginable “dark money” flows through these organizations to politicians, judges, and religions monopolizing social discourse. There is “no free lunch” nor altruism running rampant in corporate board rooms and mansions. It’s always about less responsibility, less regulation, reducing competition, manipulating markets and hoarding society’s wealth.

The Federalist Society and their sycophants’ opinions come from a long line of financially empowered intellectuals propagandizing against progressive actions that helped this society rebound from financial industry collapses, epidemics, and wars. Their one solution, pure capitalism like all “isms,” works only in the minds of social scientists.
Remaining oblivious contributes to all the dysfunctions. When voting be wary of those promoting single issues extended between a pinched thumb and forefinger while the other hand claws away Democracy sleight-of-hand.
