Overnight work will close lanes along Interstate 78 in Lehigh County for several days.

PennDOT said I-78 westbound between Exit 49 and Exit 54 will have a lane restriction from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday through Friday. That portion of the road goes between Upper Macungie, Lower Macungie and South Whitehall townships.

Crews will be patching the road during that time. Rain will not delay the work.

Sweeping is also scheduled for I-78 between Exit 55 and Exit 49 during those days. There will be lane restrictions between midnight and 7 a.m., according to PennDOT.

PennDOT maintenance will be performing “highway beautification” on I-78 between exit 49 and exit 60 in Upper Macungie Township during that time as well. There will be a lane restriction.
