Married at First Sight Australia's John Aiken has weighed in on the possibility of contestant Lucinda Light joining the show as an expert in the future.

Lucinda, who is currently matched with groom Timothy Smith in 2024's hit reality TV series, has proven to be a popular figure amongst viewers thanks to her musings on life and love and constructive advice for her fellow co-stars.

In an interview with Nine Now, long-standing expert John Aiken shared his thoughts on whether an expert role would be available for the current MAFS bride.

"No, I don't think she could be a fourth expert," he said.

Despite a position not being available on the show, Aiken praised Lucinda's character and shared how she'd made a positive contribution to the current series.

"Lucinda has many qualities and opportunities to come her way," he said of her future. "I did love her being in the experiment because she was a voice of reason, especially for the younger ones."

Aiken's comments will no doubt come as a disappointment to fans who have been vocal on social media for Lucinda to return as a relationship expert.

"Petition for Lucinda to be an expert next year PLEASE #mafs," tweeted one X user, with another writing: "they better make lucinda the 4th expert next year #MAFS #MAFSAU".

All hope may not be lost though, with an unconfirmed report from Yahoo Lifestyle claiming that Lucinda has been offered an expert role on New Zealand's version of Married At First Sight.

As for Lucinda and Timothy, Aiken reflected on the biggest challenge the MAFS couple faced during the experiment.

"One of the big issues that Lucinda and Timothy had was that from the beginning Timothy confessed that he was broken, and Lucinda wanted to devote herself to supporting him,' he told Nine Now. As a result, this affected the romance in their relationship.

Nevertheless, during last night's commitment ceremony, viewers saw Lucinda and Timothy on good terms, with the MAFS groom's emotional breakdown during the couples' retreat bringing the two closer together.
