U.S. Futures Slip, European Stocks Climb
U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.4%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.4% in morning trading. Frontline rose 5.1% and Delivery Hero climbed 4.8%. On the other hand, SalMar dropped 4.4%, and SSAB Series B slipped 3.3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.6%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.3%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 99.44.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.1% to $88.40 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1.2% to $84.72 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.1% to EUR27.38 a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 6 basis points to 2.366% from 2.304%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury was flat at 4.325%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.1%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.2%., whereas China's benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.1%.
