Oregon’s $1.32 billion Powerball jackpot winner comes forward; ticket was sold at a Plaid Pantry store in N. Portland

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) – The lucky ticket matching all six Powerball numbers in Saturday’s $1.326 billion Powerball jackpot was sold that day at the Plaid Pantry convenience store at 6060 NE Columbia Boulevard in Portland, and the winner has come forward, Oregon Lottery officials announced Monday.
That store will receive a bonus of $100,000 for selling the jackpot winner, they said.
The Oregon Lottery said it "is working with a ticket-holder who came forward on Monday to claim the prize. The process involves security measures and vetting that will take time before a winner can be announced."
“This is an unprecedented jackpot win for Oregon Lottery,” said Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells. “We're taking every precaution to verify the winner before awarding the prize money, which will take time.”
This was the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot in history, and the eight largest among U.S. jackpot games.
Plaid Pantry has sold other large Oregon Lottery jackpot prizes, including a $3.3 million Megabucks jackpot last summer.

The winner had a year to come forward and claim their prize. Under state law, players in Oregon, with few exceptions, cannot remain anonymous.
The largest Powerball prize previously won in Oregon was a $340 million jackpot in 2005. The last time a Powerball jackpot was won in the state was in 2018, when a Salem man won $150.4 million.
Approximately a third of sales from the game will be returned to state beneficiaries to support economic development, education, veteran services, state parks and more.
Retailers who sell lottery tickets also earn commissions from the boost in ticket sales and bonus payments for lower tier wins. For instance, an Oregon retailer who sells a $1 million ticket would earn a $10,000 bonus.
Saturday’s jackpot was the eighth-largest among U.S. lottery jackpot games. The jackpot was previously won on New Year’s Day in Michigan with a ticket that won a $842.4 million jackpot.
Powerball is a multi-state jackpot operated by 44 states, plus the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Ticket in Oregon Wins $1.326 Billion Powerball Jackpot
Seven tickets win $1 million prizes nationwide

The Powerball® jackpot has been won in Oregon! A single ticket sold in Oregon matched all six numbers drawn to win a jackpot worth $1.326 billion. The jackpot has a cash value of $621 million.
The winning numbers were white balls 22, 27, 44, 52, 69 and red Powerball 9. The Power Play® multiplier was 3X. Saturday’s Powerball drawing was delayed as one lottery needed additional time to complete the required pre-draw procedures. As soon as the procedures were completed, the drawing was held at 2:29 a.m. ET on Sunday at the Florida Lottery draw studio and live streamed on Powerball.com.
Final ticket sales pushed the jackpot beyond its earlier estimate of $1.3 billion to $1.326 billion at the time of the drawing, making it the fourth largest in the Powerball game and eighth largest among U.S. lottery jackpot games.

The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an annuitized prize of $1.326 billion or a lump sum payment of $621 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5-percent each year.
Even though the jackpot was won by a single ticket, participating lotteries are reminding players to check their tickets for one of the nine ways to win. Nationwide, the Powerball drawing produced more than 4.5 million winning tickets, including seven tickets that matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes. The $1 million-winning tickets were sold in Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan and Wyoming. There were also 81 tickets that won $50,000 prizes, and 26 tickets that won $150,000 prizes. Note: In California, prize payout amounts are pari-mutuel and determined by sales and the number of winners.
This was the second time the Powerball jackpot has been hit this year. The jackpot was previously won on New Year’s Day in Michigan by a ticket that won a $842.4 million jackpot.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Powerball drawings are also live streamed on Powerball.com.
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
