PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Wood County Commissioners heard updates about the Boys and Girls Club during their meeting Thursday.

Parkersburg Boys and Girls Club CEO Lynn Reins was joined by other leaders in the organization and by Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Bella Griffen.

Reins discussed changes on the horizon for the Boys and Girls Club, including expanding their outdoor amenities at their main location and a possible grant to open a second location.

Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Bella Griffen delivered a speech to the commissioners about the positive impact the Boys and Girls Club has had on her life. “Miss Hannah, our team director, taught me that my voice doesn’t have to be loud to be heard, and that one person can make a difference at what they believe in,” Griffen said. Because of this, I am able to stand up for what I believe in.”

The county commission also heard an update from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport. The airport is planning a Kid’s STEM Day for June 1 that will include an airshow.
