Perrie Edwards has admitted she's got her sights set on landing a role on a huge BBC show.

The singer who today launches her solo career, two years after Little Mix announced an indefinite hiatus, has revealed that while she's "really scared" about the prospects of appearing on BBC Strictly Come Dancing, she would jump at the chance. Although Perrie hasn't been approached by the production company, she's firmly set her sights on landing a part on the show.

But it wouldn't be her first time on the ballroom dancefloor. Previously, Little Mix performed their track Woman Like Me on the show back in 2018 before later performing Break Up Song in 2021 as a trio. In a new interview, Perrie, 30, has shared her hopes of landing a spot in the competition.

"I think I'd be really scared," she said on The Jonathan Ross Show. She went on to say: "In the band at the very beginning, we went to rehearsals and I remember crying my eyes out and I went to my manager 'I'm going to have to leave the band. I can't really dance, I don't want to dance.' I was just so terrified and uncomfortable dancing that I just didn't want to do it. I just wanted to stand and sing."

The Forget About Us hitmaker went on to add: "Now, I love it. I absolutely love dancing. I actually would love it [Strictly Come Dancing]." When probed by host Jonathan whether she would agree if she was approached, Perrie exclaimed: "Yeah!" Although today marks her first release as a solo artist, Perrie admits she's already thinking about a Little Mix reunion.

The group announced a hiatus in December 2021, explaining that following their Confetti Tour a year later, they would be taking some time apart to "recharge" and work on solo projects. The band, consisting of Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall previously stated that they would be managing their own career and had no plans to release music around the same time as one another.

Perrie had previously stated that the hiatus may last just two years, although, this appears to have changed. "I'd definitely never say never," she told Jonathan Ross when asked about the potential of getting back with her bandmates. She went on to add: "We just love each other so much.

"We thought we'd been together for 12 years since we were babies and we just wanted to do our own thing and see what happens. We'd definitely love to get back together in the future." Little Mix were formed on The X Factor by former Destiny's Child star, Kelly Rowland when all four original members, including Jesy Nelson, auditioned as solo artists.

After all four girls were sent home during the BootCamp stage, they were later invited back as a quartet to audition together. They sailed their way through to judges' houses before mentor Tulisa Contosatavlos. The group made history as they became the first band to win the former talent show.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday at 10.05pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
