THE SCHOOL SAYS THEY GOT A CALL REGARDING A BOMB THREAT AND IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT SAYS THE CALL CAME IN JUST BEFORE 1030 THIS MORNING. Smedberg Middle School was put on lockdown and later evacuated as a precaution on Friday morning due to a call regarding a bomb threat, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.The sheriff's office said an investigation determined the threat was false.Parents can pick up their children at the Sheldon High School Football field, the sheriff's office and school's principal said. The sheriff's office said the school received the call just before 10 a.m. According to a message from the principal, school officials immediately contacted law enforcement, prompting the investigation. While the campus has been cleared, the sheriff's office will continue to investigate the caller. The school is part of the Elk Grove Unified School District. This is a developing story.
