ASH GROVE, Mo. (KY3) - A man from Ash Grove was arrested Friday night after attempting to flee from police.

According to the Ash Grove Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a car for traffic violations. The driver of the car, later identified as 40-year-old Eric Nelson, refused to stop for the officer until he was at his house.

Once at his house, Nelson continued to refuse commands from the officer and was actively resisting arrest with the officer. That’s when the officer called for backup.

An officer with the Walnut Grove Police Department assisted, and deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office also showed up.

The Ash Grove officer had to deploy his taser and pepper spray to get Nelson to stop resisting. Once in custody, Nelson was taken to a Springfield hospital to be medically cleared. He was then taken to the Greene County Jail.

Nelson is facing several charges for this incident, but authorities say he also has seven active warrants for his arrest. Some of his other charges include several traffic violations and animal-related charges.
