Fairfield police were conducting a traffic stop at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday near a local elementary school when they encountered Rhodes. The 42-year-old was reportedly seen with a 20-year-old woman, police said.

After talking to the two individuals and obtaining probable cause to search the vehicle, police discovered that the woman, Tarisha Case, 20, had outstanding warrants for her arrest.

During the vehicle search, a loaded gun was located on the rear floorboard of the car. Police said the gun was a Tec-9, a semi-automatic pistol. Semi-automatic weapons like the Tec-9 have been banned from the state of California since 1989.

After finding the pistol, police arrested Rhodes for possession of the firearm, and Case was arrested for the outstanding warrants. Police said both Rhodes and Case have been booked into Solano County Jail on Thursday.

“This gun was taken out of the hands of someone who should not have had it. Point blank,” Fairfield police said on Friday.
