Meghan Markle’s Onscreen Dad Gave Her This Touching Advice Before She Officially Joined the Royal Family

When Meghan Markle struggled with the pressures and criticisms that came with being a member of the royal family, she had plenty of people to rely on. In addition to trusting her husband, Prince Harry, her mom, Doria Ragland, she also had a long list of friends to call on for support.

Among her friends, of course, were her co-stars from Suits, the show that skyrocketed her into fame. In a new interview, actor Wendell Pierce, who played Markle’s dad on the show, shared the one piece of advice he shared with the Duchess before her royal days began.

“I’m always reminded of the last day working with Meghan, which was the wedding scene prior to her engagement to the Prince,” Wendell told E! News. “I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to be a whirlwind. You’re going to be in this bubble.'”

Reminding her that not everything would be sunshine and roses, Pierce reassured her of her friendships. “‘I just want you to remember that no matter what happens, you always have friends,'” he told Markle. “‘And I hope you count me in that number.'”

Looking back, the Elsbeth star is glad he shared that moment with her. “I’m so grateful that I was able to express that to her before the whirlwind engagement in a wedding and becoming the Duchess,” he said.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pierce was later invited to her 2018 wedding with Harry but couldn’t attend due to scheduling conflicts. Many other Suits co-stars, however, including Patrick Adams, Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Abigail Spencer and Gina Torres, were all in attendance.

Since then, the two have reportedly reunited at an event last year where she received an award.

Speaking of Markle during an episode of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Pierce raved about Markle and her many talents. “She’s wonderful. She’s wonderful as both [an actress and a person]. She’s the nicest person ever,” he said, People reports. “And I actually, the one thing that bothers me the most right now for Meghan is the fact that I know she would love to act again.”

With her comeback to Hollywood officially in full swing, we’re surely going to see her take on much more than a role or two. We (and surely Pierce too) can’t wait!
