Just because it’s written in all caps doesn’t make it true.

That’s former Congresswoman Liz Cheney’s message to former President Donald Trump Sunday after he raged on social media that the ousted Republican lawmaker “should go to jail” over recent claims the House’s Jan. 6 committee withheld evidence.

Cheney reacted to some headlines Trump shared on social media, including “Democrats’ Jan. 6 panel withheld crucial evidence.” The stories were references to a House GOP report detailing testimony that contradicted some of the key Jan. 6 witnesses.

But Cheney was having none of it.

“Hi Donald: you know these are lies. You have had all the grand jury & J6 transcripts for many months. You’re trying to halt your 1/6 trial because your VP, WH counsel, WH aides, campaign & DOJ officials etc will testify against you. You’re afraid of the truth and you should be,” she said on X, formerly Twitter.

And then after Trump again shared another story on his social media website, Truth Social, Cheney again responded: “Lying in all caps doesn’t make it true, Donald. You know you and your lawyers have long had the evidence.”

Cheney chaired the House Republican Conference, serving in the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership from 2019 to 2021, and was vice chair of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol.

She was ousted from her seat after a primary election loss.

Also, over the weekend, former Vice President Mike Pence weighed in on the failed insurrection at the Capitol.

“I was there on Jan. 6. I have no doubt in my mind … that some people were caught up in the moment and entered the Capitol and they’re certainly entitled to due process of law for any non-violent activities that day, but the assaults on police officers, ultimately, an environment that claimed lives is something that I think was tragic that day and I’ll never diminish it,” Pence said in a TV interview.

Pence has said he won’t endorse Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
