BOSTON — In Friday night’s shutout loss, the Red Sox had just three hits. They eclipsed that total in a big first inning Saturday.
Boston plated four runs in the first inning and two more in the second off Angels righty Griffin Canning to take a big early lead and went on to beat Los Angeles, 7-2, to snap a four-game losing streak. Triston Casas provided the highlight of the early outburst with a mammoth, 429-foot blast to right field. Boston’s first home win of 2024 put the club back over .500 at 8-7 — and staved off history. The Red Sox have never lost their first five home games of a season.
