Missing Newberg woman found dead

NEWBERG, Ore. (KATU) — Searchers have found the body of a Newberg woman missing since late last month near where she lived, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Carolyn Duncan, 43, was reported missing Sunday, March 31.

Police officers started searching her home and neighborhood, which led them to expand their search to the Chehalem Creek area south of West 5th Street. They said the area may have been where she hiked.

On Wednesday, authorities, which included deputies from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, found her body in the creek area behind her home.

An exact cause of her death has not been determined.

Police said there was no known threat to the public.
