3 women charged in connection to joint prostitution investigation at Statesville, Monroe spas

STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Three women have been arrested after an investigation revealed spa workers were offering prostitution, according to Statesville Police.

This was a joint investigation with the Monroe Police Department where two other women were arrested on March 28 for prostitution charges out of a spa in Monroe.

In October 2023, an investigation began at Breeze Spa on Signal Hill Drive in Statesville after multiple complaints from residents. People reported inappropriate touching and solicitation for sexual acts during massages, officials said.

Undercover investigators went into the spa multiple times, and each time, they received a proposition in which they would receive sexual service in exchange for money.

The investigation revealed the owner of Breeze Spa also owned Yan Spa in Monroe, where the Monroe Police Department charged the other two women.

On March 28, three women were arrested who were associated with Breeze Spa:

  • The manager, Mei Qun Hu, 54, was charged with felony promotion of prostitution and unlicensed massage therapy.

  • Juhua Wan, 46, was charged with solicitation of prostitution and unlicensed massage therapy

  • Hong Du, 60, was charged for practicing massage therapy without a license.

Police say the investigation is still active and more arrests could be made.
