Virgin Mobile deals

Virgin Media no longer offers mobile phone deals, though Virgin Mobile deals were once available as the provider piggybacked off the EE and Vodafone network. Virgin Mobile has now merged with O2 and new customers will have to sign up to a deal with this provider.

If you’re already a Virgin Media customer, you will have been move over to O2 already. If you’re not, you can get a handset deal with a choice of the latest smartphones from O2, or a SIM-only deal if you already have a mobile phone.

Monthly phone contracts

O2 deals offer the latest mobile phones, such as the iPhone 15 or Samsung Galaxy S24, which you can purchase on a 36-month plan. All handset deals come with a SIM on a separate 24-month contract, which will include unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and a choice of following GB data plans:

• 12GB Plus
• 100GB
• 150GB
• Unlimited data

SIM-only deals

O2 SIM-only deals are 5G-ready and come with unlimited texts and minutes. O2 is also the only major network which is not going to reintroduce EU roaming charges, allowing its customers to use up to 25GB of their data plan in EU countries.

New customers can get any of the airtime plans listed above without a phone if they prefer.

O2 Extras

Six months off Disney+

New O2 customers get six months off a standard Disney+ plan when they sign up, allowing them to brand new as well as classic Disney content from any device for this period.

Volt

If you’re a Virgin Media customer for broadband and TV services, you can access Volt benefits, which include:

• Double data on eligible O2 pay-monthly plans in your household if you have Virgin Media broadband installed at your address.
• Broadband speed boost to the next available level (up to 1Gbps).
• WiFi guarantee and up to three WiFi pods if necessary.

O2 Priority

O2 customers get priority access to events at O2 venues, as well as special treatment when they arrive. Customers can use priority queues, get into exclusive spaces and use the free O2 WiFi at the 20 venues that the provider sponsors across 14 UK cities. Download the O2 Priority app for full details.

O2 is one of the UK’s major mobile networks, offering 4G and 5G to customers across the country. Here are the median average speeds provided to customers nationwide by O2:

4G speeds

• Average download speed: 18.8 Mbps (megabits per second)
• Average upload speed: 5.5 Mbps

5G speeds

• Average download speed: 73.8 Mbps
• Average upload speed: 9.9 Mbps

Virgin Media bundles with mobile

You can create your Virgin Media service by combining one or more services, including TV, broadband, home phone and mobile services. Bundling your services could be cheaper than getting them from separate providers, so you may want to consider it. With a Virgin bundle, you’ll also benefit from Volt if you sign up with O2. Here are Virgin Media’s three main bundles:

Roaming

O2 offers roaming in the EU up to 25GB at no extra cost. If you exceed this limit, you’ll be charged £3.50 per MB for any additional data you use. If your UK data plan is less than 25GB, this will also apply in the EU. For information about the 48 countries included in O2’s Europe Zone, see the network’s website.

Virgin Media Volt and any O2 pay-monthly customers are also eligible for the O2 Travel Inclusive Bolt On, which providers customers with unlimited minutes, texts and data roaming in 27 destinations outside of Europe. If you don’t have this bolt on, pay-monthly customers will be charged £6 a day in selected destinations, while pay-as-you-go customers will be charged £1.99 a day.
