ATLANTA — A 9-year-old boy is in the hospital after shooting himself in the hand with a loose gun, according to Atlanta Police.
The owner of the gun has now been charged with reckless conduct and was taken to the Fulton County Jail, according to officers.
This all happened just after 7:00 p.m. Saturday night on Hutchens Road.
As of now, officers believe the boy found the gun in one of the drawers inside the home and was playing with it when it fired. Police add that the boy's grandmother was home and making food at the time. However, it is still unclear if she was the person who was arrested.
After interviewing her, though, officers said they found a second gun in the home that also was not secured and locked away.
