A missing 7-year-old Georgia girl has been found in Puerto Rico, more than a week after she was allegedly snatched by her mother, who did not have custody rights.
Stella Brennan Salter had been missing since March 29, when she and her mom, children’s book author Wendy Salter, 46, were last seen in Metter, about 65 miles from Savannah.
They were both found about noon Saturday at a store in Puerto Rico, according to the FBI office in Atlanta.
The mom faces up to five years behind bars after she was charged with interstate interference with child custody, WJCL reported.
The child has been reunited with her dad, who has legal custody, officials said.
The Lyons Police Department and the FBI were expected to extradite Salter to Toombs County, where she is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
Salter is listed on Amazon as a longtime school counselor and a children’s book author.
“A wife and mother of two daughters. Wendy is from a long line of farmers and she and her family live on a farm that has been in her family for five generations,” her bio states.
“Wendy has been a member of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators since 2012,” it adds.
