LANSING, Kan. — An inmate who escaped the Lansing Correctional Facility on Sunday night was caught Monday morning.

He was serving an 8.5-year prison sentence for attempted murder and aggravated assault on a police officer in 2017 in Pratt County.

Verstraete was a minimum security inmate at the time of his escape. The correctional facility officials say this did not impact the security within the medium-maximum part of the prison.

He was arrested by Lansing police Monday and is back in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections.
