Buses to temporarily replace RTD’s A Line to Denver International Airport Saturday

DENVER (KDVR) — Part of the Regional Transportation District’s commuter rail with service to the Denver International Airport will be temporarily replaced by shuttle buses on Saturday.

RTD is encouraging customers to plan ahead and prepare for the disruption.

From 2:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., shuttle buses will transport A Line passengers between the Central Park and Denver Airport stations.

RTD said the service is being disrupted so that RTD crews can conduct routine maintenance on the Interstate 70 bridge near Pena Boulevard. Crews will be installing insulators in two locations for the overhead lines that power the commuter rail trains.

Why Denver International Airport doesn’t call itself ‘DIA’

The A Line trains will operate as usual between the Denver Union Station and Central Park station. Bus shuttles will be offered between Central Park and the airport station with bus boarding at the following locations:

  • Central Park station: Gate B3

  • Peoria Station: Gate E

  • 40th Avenue and Airport•Gateway Park: Gate A

  • 61st and Peña: Next to the rail platform

  • Denver Airport (Transit Center-Level 1): Gate 7 (departures); Gate 6 (arrivals)

Once the maintenance work is finished, rail service between Denver Union Station and the airport will resume.

The first train with continuous service to the airport will depart Union Station at 6:30 p.m., and the first train with continuous service to Union Station will depart from the Denver Airport Station at 7:27 p.m., according to a release from RTD.
