Hickory Rings! will hold its 12th annual spring concerts on Tuesday, April 23, at First United Methodist Church in Newton and Thursday, April 25, at Corinth Reformed Church in Hickory.
Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Donations will be appreciated for the purchase of new music, bells/chimes and equipment. The listeners will enjoy the incredibly larger and deeper sound of the seventh octave of chimes and two groups of combined ringers.
The concerts will include “Fanfare of Triumph” by Michael Joy; “Crown Him with Many Crowns” arranged by David Angerman; “Stocatto” by Fred Gramann; “Earth and All Stars” by Sandra Eithum; “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” arranged by Jason Krug; “Amazing Grace” arranged by Mike Watson including playing his English horn; “A Large Day” by Kathleen Wissinger; “Be Thou My Vision” arranged by Cathy Moklebust; and ”Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty” by Cathy Moklebust. The final piece with be “Prelude on Herzliebster Jesu” arranged by Fred Gramann.

Hickory Rings! was formed in April 2012 from the vision of local hand bell/music directors desiring to have a stellar ensemble performing the finest in existing and new hand bell repertoire. The group includes 25 ringers from Catawba, Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Lincoln counties.
