Scooter rider killed in hit-and-run crash in Phoenix

The crash happened near 36th Street and Camelback Road Wednesday night, Phoenix police said.

PHOENIX — An investigation is underway after a scooter rider was killed in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night.

According to Phoenix police, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. near Camelback Road and 36th Street when a car going westbound on Camelback Road struck a man riding his motorized scooter.

When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from serious injuries. First responders took him to the hospital where he later died, officials said.

The driver left the scene before officers arrived, police added. Authorities haven't disclosed the victim's identity.

Calls to Silent Witness are answered 24/7 by a live person and submitted tips are accepted at all times. Submitted tips are then sent to the detective(s) in charge of the specific case. 

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
