A Torrington man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on Interstate 84 in Hartford Saturday night.

Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a 33-year-old woman from Vernon was driving on Interstate 84 West just west of the entrance ramp from Interstate 91 South, when she struck a man who was walking on the highway, according to Connecticut State Police.

Raphael E. Rodriguez, 32, of Torrington, was walking in the left lane ahead of a woman’s Honda Pilot when he was struck by the SUV, state police said.

Rodriguez suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to state police.

The driver was taken to Hartford Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said.

Anyone with a dashboard camera who was driving through the area the time the crash is also asked to contact state police.
