MERIDEN, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A young boy who was killed in a go-kart accident last week has been identified as 6-year-old Adrian Warzecha.

Adrian died on Tuesday while driving a go-kart at Kronenberger Park. He ran into a gate and suffered a traumatic head injury.

His 4-year-old brother was also riding in the go-kart and was hurt in the accident. He was taken to the hospital with no major injuries and is expected to be OK.

The community in Meriden, Connecticut held a vigil for Adrian over the weekend.

When Leonela Torres heard about the accident, she wanted to help organize a vigil.

She had never met Adrian or his family, but as a mother herself, her heart ached for Adrian’s mom.

“She just needs the support and love that we can offer her,” Torres said. “I felt like it was a terrible tragedy that happened.”

Torres said Adrian’s death is a reminder to never take your loved ones for granted.

“Just love your kids because you never know when they’re going to go,” Torres said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral expenses.
