HOLLY, Mich. (WJRT) - An 18-year-old man from Saginaw was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly participating in an auto theft operation at a car dealership in Holly.

Around 1:20 a.m., a Holly officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle in the rear lot of Davison Motorsports on North Holly Road. The officer then noticed the taillights come on from the vehicle.

Holly Police say the thieves used a stolen vehicle to break through a fence and crash into a stone wall. The damaged vehicle and a vehicle the thieves stole and left running were abandoned.

A vehicle then pulled out from an area parking lot and began to go north on Holly Road. Oakland County deputies noticed the vehicle a short distance away abandoned on the road. Michigan State Police, Oakland County deputies and the K9 unit began to search for suspects. An 18-year-old man from Saginaw was found on foot and taken into custody.

According to Holly Police, the evidence recovered revealed that several people were involved, and they possess sophisticated auto theft equipment that would indicate an organized vehicle theft operation.

The suspect's name has not been released.
