*Think being Muslim is limited to a certain group of people? Think again. As a brother and sister show, Islam knows no bounds. Taking to social media, the duo highlighted misconceptions they’ve heard about Puerto Rican Muslims.

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim; of course, everybody thinks I’m an Arab,” TikToker Tim said in a video posted on Feb. 6 before the clip went to his sister, Ally.

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim; of course, the first thing they’re going to ask me is if I converted for a man,” Ally stated, while highlighting that folks assume Puerto Rican Muslims can’t speak Spanish or Arabic.

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim. Of course, I’m trying to convert my parents,” Tim stated.

Commenting on Tim and Ally’s video, some social media users relayed how their dealings with similar things added their own experiences, while others confessed they didn’t know Hispanic Muslims existed.

Check out the shared thoughts, via Madame Noire:

“My kids are Puerto Rican and Arabic. Of course, everybody’s confused about what they are.”

“Wow, I didn’t realize until this video that I actually never saw/noticed a Hispanic female Muslim before.”

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim. Of course, my family doesn’t understand why I can’t kiss my cousins on the cheek.”

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim. Of course, they think I converted when I went to jail.”

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim. Of course, other Puerto Ricans ask me why I have that thing on my head.”

Although one commenter pointed out how their parents looked Muslim, Madame Noire noted Tim’s clarification, stating that while his and Ally’s mother “accepted Islam Alhamdulilah” his father was “a bit of a hard head.”

Tim and Ally’s video is the latest in a series of clips highlighting the misconceptions they face as Puerto Rican Muslims. Among the misconceptions are those with the belief that Ally’s husband has four wives. #Facts, that belief is not truth. In addition, Ally shared that people always asked her if she was hot because of her hijab.

For Ally and Tim, the conflict goes further with critics coming out to “go back” to where they came from, despite being born in the United States.

“I’m Muslim; of course, they tell me to go back to where I came from. And I was born here!” Tim exclaimed.

Chronicling Tim and Ally’s struggle, Madame Noire cited a Feb. 10 video the pair made that featured claims they made about people assuming they were brainwashed into becoming Muslim. The haters further told the siblings they were going to hell for not being Christian.

“I’m Puerto Rican and Muslim. Of course, the Puerto Ricans don’t claim me,” Ally added.

Days later, Tim and Ally posted a video on Feb. 19, sharing they were Muslim Reverts. For those who don’t know, the term refers to those who were Muslim and left it, only to revert.

“I’m a revert; of course, they ask if I converted to have four wives, and I don’t even have one,” Tim voiced.

“I’m a revert. Of course, they say if I have kids with him, he’s going to sell them and take them back to his country, but he was born here,” Ally expressed.

So, what say you? Do you feel Tim and Ally deserve all the misconceptions thrown at them for being Puerto Rican Muslims? Or should folks mind their own business and just let the siblings do them?  Scroll below to weigh in
