A 41-year-old man faces potential felony charges of sexually abusing his teenage sisters-in-law, Napa Police reported.
Officers detained the suspect at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday outside his apartment in the 2600 block of First Street, police Sgt. Pete Piersig said in an email. The man – whom the Napa Valley Register is not identifying because of his familial connection to the accusers – was booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. He was being held Friday on $250,000 bail.
According to Piersig, one 16-year-old accuser described the abuse in late March to a counselor and resource officer at her school. When local schools reopened Tuesday after spring break, a Napa Police detective met the girl, who said during an interview that her older sister’s husband had molested her twice at her home while she slept, in 2020 and 2022 when she was 13 and 15 years old, respectively, Piersig said.
More recently, the accuser said she grew concerned when her brother-in-law began waiting for her at an after-school program, following her as she walked home and offering her rides, according to Piersig.
The teen added that the suspect had similarly followed her middle sister several years ago, Piersig added. That sibling was reluctant to discuss the matter with police detectives, but did say the suspect had assaulted her when she was 15, while she was sleeping in her Napa home, according to Piersig.
